It’s important for babies, children, teens and young adults (up to age 21) to have regular checkups to help them stay healthy. Checkups are a good time for parents and guardians to ask the doctor questions. You will not pay any costs for these checkups.
Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT)
These checkups are called EPSDT. EPSDT stands for Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment. Your doctor will tell you how often your child should have an EPSDT checkup.
An EPSDT checkup includes:
- Complete physical exam
- Hearing test
- Vision test
- Developmental screening
- Lab work (blood and urine tests)
- Immunizations (shots)
